How to Make Sure You're Paying a Fair Price For Your Conservatory

When looking to build a new conservatory, chances are you will find a wide range of conservatory prices and quotes thrown at you. This can be confusing and you might be asking yourself exactly how can the cost of one company differ from another so drastically. This can be down to a few factors, perhaps it is in the way they price up the job, the materials they use, their reputation or the general size of the company. With this in mind, how can you go about finding a true and fair price quote for your conservatory?

The best way to gauge an accurate price range is to get at least three different quotes from different companies, giving them exactly the same specifications each time. It is important you do this as the slightest difference in what you ask of them could mean a difference in materials or allocating a longer period of time for the job. Companies usually price things up by factoring in individual aspects such as material cost, labour cost, delivery charges etc so one difference in the calculation is going to affect the total.

If you have done this and each of your conservatory prices are in the same sot of range, this would appear to be a fair representation of what you are likely to spend. Reliable businesses like to keep up with the competition so quite often their prices will all be fairly similar.

If one company is a lot cheaper than the rest, this isn't necessarily a good sign. When confirming this quote make sure they have factored in every aspect of the job in the same way the other companies have. Is everything included in the quote or do they expect you to arrange some parts of the job yourself? Some smaller companies may class things like electrical work or base-laying as outside of their job description. Dont be quick to accept their quote just because it is the cheapest. You may end up paying more than you were led to believe when they start adding extras during the construction process or if you have to hire another outside contractor to do parts of the work. Also, have they grasped the full extent of the job? If the company is new or if you are dealing with anyone in a freelance capacity they may not have the experience to understand all aspects of what will be needed. Make sure you find out if they are saving on their costs by employing cheap labour rather than a fully qualified workforce. This is a job worth doing right and can lead to further costs if there are mistakes or corners cut along the way.

If you are faced with choosing between similar quotes then you should look in to each company to help you choose. Do they have a good reputation? What kind of guarantees and after-sales warrantees and services do they offer? It is a good idea to read testimonials of previous clients or ask around locally and see if anybody has experience using them. Visit their website or showroom to get an idea of the scale of the company, if they are professional in their presentation then hopefully they will do an professional job on your construction. Do they have experts to help with every aspect of the job such as surveying, planning permissions and design? It can prove very beneficial to have everything under one roof if this has been factored in to the cost.

This may be obvious but check what kind of materials they are using too and whether they are of a high standard. When dealing with uPVC conservatories make sure the wall and roof units are reinforced. Is the glass toughened or does the roof glass come with a solar coating to minimize the effects of the sun? A good company should be able to give you a specific breakdown of everything you are paying for and offer the best and most secure option each time. Make sure you take time to meet with them and find out what kind of structure will be best for your property. These kinds of discussions should give you a good idea of their expertise and should leave you more confident in making a sensible decision when it comes to picking the right company for the job.

I myself recently made a purchase of a conservatory and I found it difficult. The varying quotes you are offered can make it confusing, so following the steps mentioned above should help to provide you with the best option possible in a reliable conservatory company. However if you go for a cheaper quote you will have to look at other market areas to make sure you have everything you need, such as electricians and glass manufacturers.
